Feathers earings are a classic way to add elegance to any look, making this tassel earring and feather the perfect accessory for formal occasions, as well as worn casually with jeans for an easy everyday style statement.

The first step is to determine the size that your feather will be. It will depend on the intended use; however, as a general rule of thumb, use thread that has about 70-75 wraps per inch for optimal results.

Select Your Feathers

Feathers earings are a great material to work with in decorative projects because of their numerous shapes and colors. Feathers can be used in wall hangings, sculptures wreaths, ornaments, and dream catchers The selection of the perfect feathers for your project is vital as the overall appearance and feel relies heavily on them - consider aspects like the quality of color, size as well as soft or rigid options when selecting feathers for use in your product.

Based on your theme, natural or neutral colored feathers may be best. While dyed feathers offer plenty of visual appeal however their vibrant hues can disappear faster than their natural counterparts so dyed may not be the best choice for your particular project.

A second consideration is the available space. Longer feathers can add more drama and formality while shorter ones may be more casual. When selecting feathers for use in your project, be mindful of both their length and shape. Certain feathers feature flat surfaces while others feature more curvilinear or ruffled designs that provide an element of texture. Since not taking care of their proper care could cause knots or static-charged ones being used, ensure to inspect them thoroughly before using them.

Stack Them

If you already own a pair of feather earrings that you love, add one or two extra feathers to give them more fullness. As you add more feathers to a headpin, the volume grows. When adding feathers, be sure that an earring wire of high-quality (the hardware that connects to the ear) is securely in place. I recommend lever backs with their adjustable loop on the bottom, which allows it to let you open and close the ear easily.

When you've got your feathers as you would like put them in the crimp tube and then close it using pliers for an ensconced hold. This allows you to perform other tasks with them for example, like sliding beads over them to make earrings with beads or wire the headpin onto a barrette to make a headpiece for use; creating bird's nest pendants or clusters of flowers to use as pendants is an alternative. You can also attach feathers directly to wire to create bracelets! Get creative! Explore different arrangements while you make different effects

Wrap Them

Feather earrings are a glamorous fashion accessory. Wearing them with formal and casual attire gives you instant glamour, not to mention being incredibly light and easy to wear for all day comfort. Add a pop of colour by changing feather colors!

Feathers are beautiful accessories, which require special attention to ensure they look their best. When stored either hanging up or lying flat they should not get crushed through other things or by hard surfaces; and must be handled with care to prevent chipping or cracking of feathers.

As an easy way to maintain their appearance, feathers can be kept looking amazing by wrapping twine securely around them. The twine is usually in a set or is available separately. its waxy coating enables it to be wrapped tightly around objects.

Create a wire length enough to wrap it twice around the feather, then shorten it by about half of its original length. by using needle nose pliers to grab both ends - one is parallel to its spine, while the other is perpendicular to it and forms loops (Photos 3 & 4). Once you've completed this, hanging it on either an earwire or jump rings (great for adding it to necklaces) by putting its hook into the hole that was created in the middle of wrapping (Photo five).

Crimp These

This will secure your feathers to an earring using just one crimp bead per feather you are planning to add. After separating your hair according to preference (not too much, though) decide where you would like to attach the feather extension. Then slide one of the crimp beads onto the wire before flattening it with jewelry pliers until it fits tightly around the desired feather extension.

If you'd want to add another bead with a crimp, follow the same process until you have created your perfect feather earring making sure to create identical pairs!

Once your earrings are complete just connect their hooks to a jump ring and shut it. You can now relax wearing your unique, custom feather earrings!
